Surely Goodness and Mercy

A pilgrim was I and awand'ring,
In the cold night of sin I did roam,
When Jesus the kind Shepherd found me,
And now I am on my way home.

He restoreth my soul when I'm weary,
He giveth me strength day by day;
He leads me beside the still waters,
He guards me each step of the way.

When I walk through the dark lonesome valley,
My Savior will walk with me there;
And safely His great hand will lead me,
To the mansions He's gone to prepare.

Chorus
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
All the days, all the days of my life;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
All the days, all the days of my life.
- John W. Peterson -

Hear me, O Lord;
for thy lovingkindness is good:
turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
- Psalm 69:16 -

 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed:
thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.
- Exodus 15:13 -

 Thou wilt shew me the path of life:
in thy presence is fulness of joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
- Psalm 16:11 -

 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
- Psalm 23 -

Have blessed Lord's Day, friends!

I love this song. It also makes me smile, because when I was a teen, a boy wanted me to play a duet with him on this song. We had not practiced beforehand, and I had always played it slow, and he played it double time. I had a hard time keeping up LOL

Those are some beautiful scripture verses to go along with that hymn. I especially like Exodus 15:13
This hymn has always been one that I've enjoyed singing, especially as I go about my day.
Your lace pretties put a smile on my face. :-)

Recently found your blog and am delighted to be following your words of encouragement and praise. The last few months have been a challenge for me since losing my mother to cancer (she had lived with me for over 20 years) and attempting to restructure my life now that I am alone. I decided to search for some inspirational blogs and was blessed to find yours. I have also signed on for the 10th Tea Cup and Mug Exchange and have the items for my package all ready to go. Thank you for the encouragement you share via your blog. Cheryl

I love that hymn, Stephanie. Thank you so much for sharing it here. Psalm 16:11 is one of my very favorite Bible verses ever...in His presence is joy for evermore. I love that it isn't just for a few minutes here or an hour there, but it is for evermore.

Dear Stephanie, someone asked me today what I liked most in other people, and immediately you came to mind as I answered, "loveliness." I meant a loveliness of spirit, a warm heart, gracious manners. I just want to thank you for providing such an example of loveliness.
